Two students from the Banaras Hindu University allegedly lured a doctor to their hostel before sexually assaulting and robbing the 32-year-old. As per Indian Express, the two BHU students were among a group of five.

Police said the group also recorded the entire incident and tried to extort money from the doctor. Three accused, including the two students, have been arrested as the police hunt the other two individuals.

The doctor said the accused stole a gold chain, ring and cash. Those arrested have now confessed to the crime, as per Varanasi Deputy Commissioner of Police Ram Sewak Gautam.

Police uncovered that this was not the first time the accused were involved in such an incident. According to IE, the group had assaulted four other doctors and one businessman previously.

The report added that the accused contacted the doctors using a mobile application majorly used by the gay community.

The police have registered cases against those arrested. The accused are booked under sections relating to unnatural offences, criminal intimidation, extortion and others.
