Bhopal, June 3 (PTI)—A police sub-inspector in Bhopal has been removed from field duty after allegedly instructing a gym owner to prohibit the entry of Muslims, officials stated on Tuesday. The action against sub-inspector Dinesh Sharma followed the emergence of a video on social media displaying him making the controversial remarks. In the video, Sharma is seen telling the gym owner, "No Muslim will come here to train or take training. I am telling you this clearly," he instructed. According to officials, some members of the Bajrang Dal had visited the gym in the Ayodhya Nagar area and expressed concerns over Muslim trainers being present there. The police were called to alleviate the tense situation, during which Sharma is alleged to have made the controversial comments. The video quickly went viral on social media, prompting the police to launch an investigation. Upon conclusion of the investigation, Sharma was reassigned to the Police Lines on Monday, an official reported. The police have emphasized that acts fostering tension between communities will not be tolerated. In response to the incident, Bhopal BJP MP Alok Sharma stated that a list of gyms with Muslim trainers is being compiled.
