44 flights to and from Bengaluru were cancelled amid a bandh in Karnataka over the Cauvery water dispute. Bengaluru airport officials said that the flights were cancelled due to operational reasons and passengers were informed on time.

Multiple media reports however said that several passengers had cancelled their tickets due to the Karnataka bandh and this prompted airport authorities to cancel 22 incoming and 22 outgoing flights.

Five people were also detained for trying to enter the airport to stage a protest. According to the police, they had bought flight tickets to gain entry to the airport.
