Chandigarh, August 25 (PTI): Four affiliates of the Davinder Bambiha gang have been apprehended in Barnala, Punjab, with authorities seizing four pistols from their possession, as reported by a senior police official on Monday.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav revealed that the four individuals — Satnam Singh alias Satti, Gurpreet alias Guri, Sarm Singh alias Rinku, and Deepak Singh — were plotting a significant robbery.
"During a checkpoint operation, the suspects opened fire on the police team. Our officers managed to overpower and arrest them," Yadav mentioned on X.
He added, "Recovered items: four weapons including one Zigana pistol and three pistols of .30 and .32 bore along with live cartridges."
Satnam has a record as a habitual offender with over 22 prior cases, including charges of murder, attempted murder, violations of the Arms Act, and offenses under the Narcotics Drugs Psychotropic Substances Act.
Additionally, Sarm Singh and Deepak Singh are reportedly involved in the narcotics trade, the DGP noted.
The interrogation of the suspects is ongoing, with further revelations anticipated, he further stated.
