Guwahati, Sep 8 (PTI) — In a major crackdown on the drug trade, Assam Police arrested two individuals and seized narcotics valued at approximately Rs 3.4 crore in separate operations. This was confirmed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a statement.
Following a tip-off, the police executed a raid in the Chachal area of Guwahati, resulting in the confiscation of 355 grams of heroin. The drugs hold an estimated market value of Rs 1.8 crore. One suspect was arrested in connection with this operation, Chief Minister Sarma revealed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) late on Sunday night.
In another successful operation in Tolengram, Cachar district, the police seized 300 grams of heroin. This cache is believed to be worth Rs 1.6 crore. One person was taken into custody during the raid.
