Itanagar, Sep 5 (PTI) An outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) has recently been detected in various parts of Arunachal Pradesh's West Siang district, a government official confirmed. To curb the spread of the disease, the district administration, led by West Siang District Magistrate Liyi Bagra, has implemented a ban on importing pigs from outside the district. The district administration has also prohibited the inter-district transportation of pigs and piglets. Additionally, the authorities have mandated that butchers selling pork or individuals slaughtering pigs for consumption or other purposes must acquire an anti-mortem inspection report from a veterinary officer before slaughtering. Pigs that have been inspected must be properly tagged on the ear for identification. Any individual found breaching these directives will face legal action under the relevant laws, as stated in the order.
