Based on intelligence provided by the Assam Rifles, the Tirap unit of the state police conducted an operation earlier this week that culminated in capturing self-styled captain, Kamwang Chakhtey, a cadre of the NSCN (K-YA), revealed SP Sinjalta Singpho on Friday.

Chakhtey has reportedly been associated with the group since 1995.

During the operation, authorities recovered a revolver, a hand grenade, live ammunition, organizational stamps, and Rs 1.5 lakh in cash from his possession.
