Muzaffarnagar (UP), Oct 22 (PTI) - Eight individuals were apprehended after a confrontation between two community groups during Diwali celebrations in Abdulla Khan village, located in Shamli district. This incident resulted from disputes over firecracker usage, authorities reported on Wednesday.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Santosh Kumar Singh, stated that charges have been filed against those involved in the clash. The individuals arrested include Sabir, Husain, Kadir, Suhail, Muqadas, Bhura, another Kadir, and Azam. These arrests took place on Tuesday night.
The altercation reportedly began after some villagers objected to others bursting crackers to mark Diwali, as noted in a complaint by Vinod Kumar. What began as a dispute rapidly escalated into violence, resulting in injuries to Ankur and Arvind.
To ensure peace and order, the police have enforced additional security measures within the village. Extra forces are on standby to address any potential unrest, officials confirmed.
