Cloud seeding went horribly wrong for the UAE as torrential rains brought widespread flooding across the desert nation, forcing schools and flight operations to be suspended temporarily on April 16.
The UAE weather agency said that the country has received its highest rainfall in 75 years.
Amidst the ongoing chaos, Indian entrepreneur Anand Mahindra shared a glimpse of the flooded roads of the UAE and compared it with Mumbai.
He wrote on X, “Nope. Not Mumbai. Dubai.”
Soon after his post went viral, the internet was flooded with mixed reactions, with some criticising him for mocking the situation, while others defended him saying he was just stating facts.
In response to Mahindra’s post, an X user called the comparison incorrect.
“Incorrect analogy. Dubai was not built for such heavy rains – rains that would flood most cities. A better analogy would be if it suddenly snowed heavily in Bombay, which was not built to handle snow at all. Would people in snowy Oslo mock Bombay?” the user wrote.
