Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid a visit to the family of the late Deputy Superintendent of Police, Humayun Muzammil Bhat, a Kirti Chakra awardee, who sacrificed his life combating terrorists in 2023. On Monday, Shah, currently on a three-day trip to Jammu and Kashmir, made his first stop at Bhat's residence in Humhama shortly after landing at Srinagar airport, according to officials. During his visit, the Union Home Minister spent about 20 minutes with the father of the fallen officer, retired Inspector General of Police, Ghulam Hassan Bhat, before proceeding to Raj Bhavan. DSP Humayun Muzammil Bhat, who was posthumously honored with the Kirti Chakra, was one of four brave security personnel who lost their lives in the dense forests near Gadool village in Kokernag, Anantnag district, as they battled terrorists in September 2023. Upon his arrival at the airport, Shah was greeted by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his advisor, Nasir Aslam Wani. In light of Shah's visit, security measures have been intensified across Kashmir, with a significant deployment of armed personnel to ensure safety and security. During his stay, the Union Home Minister is slated to assess the security landscape in Kashmir during a meeting with senior security forces and police officials on Tuesday. Additionally, he will evaluate the progress of various developmental projects being undertaken in the Valley in a separate session.
