Guwahati, Aug 28 (PTI) – Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Assam on Thursday to assess the BJP's organizational readiness ahead of next year's assembly elections.

Upon arrival in Guwahati, Shah will participate in a meeting with the state's BJP core committee and later join party members for dinner.

"He will discuss preparations for the upcoming Assam assembly elections, which are crucial for the party. The home minister is deeply invested in it," said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday.

On Friday, Shah is slated to inaugurate the newly-constructed Brahmaputra wing of the Raj Bhavan, and subsequently open the National Cyber Forensic Laboratory while unveiling various projects related to ITBP, SSB, and Assam Rifles.

He is also scheduled to attend a convention featuring newly elected NDA panchayat members later that day.

Following this event, he will review the progress of the Jyoti Bishnu Cultural Complex, an auditorium designed to seat 5,000 people.

In the evening, Shah will launch the birth centenary celebrations of Golap Borbora, the first non-Congress chief minister of the state, before departing for New Delhi.
