Ahmedabad, Jun 13 (PTI) - In a tragedy that has shaken the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a review meeting on Friday with senior officials from the Gujarat government following his visit to the site of the devastating Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.

The meeting took place at the GujSail building, located near the city airport. During this meeting, PM Modi received a briefing on the tragic incident that resulted in the loss of 265 lives on Thursday. He provided instructions to the concerned officials during the session.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi visited the crash site and the city civil hospital to assess the situation firsthand. Grieving the incident, he expressed his sorrow on social media, stating, "We are all devastated by the air tragedy in Ahmedabad. The loss of so many lives in such a sudden and heart-breaking manner is beyond words. Condolences to all the bereaved families. We understand their pain and also know that the void left behind will be felt for years to come. Om Shanti."

The meeting was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Union Jal Shakti Minister and Gujarat BJP chief C R Paatil, and Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu.
