12 cops part of operation, 42 rounds fired: gangster Atiq Ahmed's son killed in encounter

The encounter that led to the killing of gangster Atiq Ahmed's son Asad and his accomplice Ghulam was conducted by 12 police officers of Uttar Pradesh's special task force led by 2 DSP rank officers. A statement from the police says 42 rounds were fired during the encounter and a British Bulldog Revolver and a Walther P88 pistol were recovered from them. According to a NDTV report, Asad was on his way to Madya Pradesh when the police intercepted him in Jhansi. He was reportedly in disguise.

Asad has been on the move since the killing of Umesh Pal, a murder witness. Asad and his father Atiq Ahmed were accused of killing Pal.
