Ahmedabad, Jun 10 (PTI) Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Paatil stated on Tuesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has transformed Indian politics by ending the culture of appeasement and ushering in an era of accountability and transparency since assuming office in 2014.

During a press conference held at the state BJP headquarters in Gandhinagar to commemorate 11 years of the Modi government, Paatil highlighted the Prime Minister's substantial influence and achievements. Modi has become the third-longest serving Prime Minister of India, following in the footsteps of Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi.

Paatil remarked, "India has witnessed unprecedented development over these 11 years under PM Modi. Citizens never anticipated such progress for the nation. Beyond development, the world acknowledges our growing strength. The accomplishments of these years will be inscribed in golden letters."

Without mentioning specific names, he criticized the pre-2014 Central government as corrupt and mired in scams, asserting that it fostered an environment of negativity. "Before 2014, politics centered around appeasement and creating divisions to remain in power. Modi has reshaped this culture over the past 11 years, establishing a more transparent and accountable government that the people trust. The entire world now looks to us with hope," he added.

As a Lok Sabha MP, accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Paatil enumerated the Modi government's significant achievements, such as the construction of 12 crore toilets, providing tap water connections to 15 crore households, uplifting 25 crore citizens out of poverty, and extending maternity leave for pregnant women to 26 weeks.

He emphasized, "PM Modi's mantra is to deliver more than expected and on time to every section of society. The government under Modi has been inclusive, made tough decisions, and adhered to financial discipline. Reforms such as the abolition of instant triple talaq and the removal of Article 370, once deemed impossible, have been realized. Modi's efforts are steering India towards becoming the world's fourth-largest economy, climbing from the 11th spot in 2014."

Chief Minister Patel praised Modi as the first prime minister since Independence to prioritize the country's interests. "Under PM Modi, trust in the government among common people has grown. He is the first prime minister in seven decades to place national interest above all else. Previously, the industrial sector suffered due to red tape and a lack of pro-development vision in earlier regimes. Modi's tenure signified a turning point, heralding an era of political stability and development-centric politics," Patel concluded.
