Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has clarified what he actually meant by the comments he made on Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma during the IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore's against Kings XI Punjab.
In an interview with India Today, Gavaskar said that people completely misunderstood and misquoted him which led to the controversy. He added that whenever Kohli scores a century nobody gives credit to Anushka for it and that he is one of the first to raise this issue whenever it crops up.
He went on to say that he was always in favour of wives and girlfriends (WAGs) to be allowed on tours with the players, because cricket is a profession for them just like everybody else.
He then went on to explain that his words were being twisted and what he meant was that players couldn't practice properly during the lockdown and gave the example of the video of Kohli playing cricket with Anushka Sharma inside their housing society in Mumbai.
