In a bid to explore options to help patients calm down before surgeries, researchers at the University of Pennsylvania studied the effects of music on 157 people. It was found that listening to music before a surgery helped the patients calm their nerves just as much as medication did. The study published in the British Medical Journal said that patients were either made to listen to the song Weightless by UK band Marconi Union, considered 'the world's most relaxing song' for 3 minutes or given the drug midazolam while having an anaesthetic. The scientists believe this might help with post surgery recovery.
