Here's how Google could help transform the agricultural industry

Alphabet, Google's parent company just unveiled prototype robots that could help improve crop yields by inspecting plants in a field.

Lead by Alphabet's X team, the project is called 'Mineral' and hopes to promote sustainable agriculture and feed the Earth's growing population.

The robot buggies are attached to upright pillars so they can crawl through fields without damaging the crops and collect data about how crops grow.

It will give information about how plants are growing and responding to the environment. 

The robot could help grow anything from strawberries to soybeans.
