The Health Ministry on Thursday dismissed reports of CoWin data breach and called it "incorrect" and "baseless".
Reports had claimed that a hackers' group had accessed the database of about 150 million users registered on CoWin and that the data was up for sale.
Refuting the reports the ministry added that CoWin stores all the vaccination data in a safe and secure digital environment. The health ministry stated that the matter is being investigated but stressed that ‘no CoWin data is shared with any entity outside the CoWin environment.’
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Empowered Group on Vaccine Administration has clarified that data claimed to have been leaked, such as geo-location of beneficiaries, is not even collected at CoWin.
