Google in a bid to maintain privacy and security has temporarily locked down the email accounts of the Aghan government and officials according to information obtained by Reuters through sources. An employee of the former government has told Reuters the Taliban are seeking to acquire former officials' emails.
In a statement on Friday, Google stated the company was monitoring the situation in Afghanistan and "taking temporary actions to secure relevant accounts."
Afghan government bodies before the Taliban regime used Google's servers to handle official emails, including the ministries of finance, industry, higher education, and mines.
