Good health does not come easy, and it doesn't come cheap. A new research says that the affordability of nutritious foods plays a pivotal role when it comes to malnutrition, obesity and child stunting. The International Food Policy Research Institute's (IFPRI) study shows that most foods considered healthy are substantially more expensive in poorer countries. Published in The Journal of Nutrition, the research found that the relative caloric prices of healthy and unhealthy foods varied systematically across income levels and continents. It paves way for a future with regulated food prices that can lead to better diets and nutrition in rich and poor countries alike.
