The global death toll from the coronavirus pandemic has topped 9 lakh since the deadly contagion first appeared in China last year, according to an AFP tally. There have been more than 27.7 million confirmed virus cases worldwide. Latin America and the Caribbean are the worst-hit by the pandemic, followed by Europe. US has so far recorded the most coronavirus deaths with the toll from virus inching close to 2 lakh followed by Brazil on the second spot in terms of Covid deaths.
