  • 33 hikes: Petrol prices are up almost every alternate day since May 3 
  • Petrol in Mumbai costs almost twice as much as in New York
  • Petrol prices are up 10% in the last 2 months, up ₹8.5/litre
  • 8 state capitals, Chennai being the latest, are retailing petrol over the ₹100/lt mark
  • Global crude prices are hovering near $75/bbl; which is a 3-year high 
  • Last time global crude prices were at $75 petrol was at ₹85/litre across India
