FSSAI acts to make food packaging safer

A survey by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has shown that 80% of the food samples packed in coloured carry bags and 59% in black carry bags was found to be chemically contaminated. The food regulator is set to notify new regulations for packaging. This will prohibit packaging materials like recycled plastics, newspaper with inks and dyes and other materials used for wrapping food articles. The aim is to protect food from contamination.
