A family spokesperson for Chris Cairns confirmed that the former New Zealand allrounder is off life support and his condition is improving. The 51-year-old was rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital in Sydney earlier this month after suffering from a massive heart attack. His condition worsened and was put on a life-support system shortly after as he had a tear in the lining of the aorta.

Cairns' lawyer told the press that his condition is improving and he has been communicating with his family. Chris Cairns had played in 62 International matches for New Zealand between 1989 and 2004. However, his achievements on the field were overshadowed by allegations of match-fixing which he still flatly denies and was acquitted by the court.
