Former Gujarat CM Keshubhai Patel passes away; PM condoles his death

Former Chief Minister of Gujarat and veteran BJP leader, Keshubhai Patel passed away at the age of 92 in an Ahmedabad hospital. Patel complained of difficulty in breathing on Thursday morning when he was taken to a hospital, where he breathed his last. Condoling the death, PM Modi said he is deeply pained and saddened by Patel’s demise.

Keshubhai Patel was Gujarat chief minister in 1995 and again during 1998-2001 before Narendra Modi succeeded him.

Patel, who started his political career as a worker for the Jan Sangh was a six-time member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. He floated the Gujarat Parivartan Party in 2012 which later merged with the BJP in 2014.
