India’s foreign secretary Harsh Shringla while addressing a webinar at the Indian Council for World Affairs said it cannot be business as usual between India and China given the ‘unprecedented’ tense situation at the LAC. He added the LAC situation is one of the ‘most serious challenges’ India has faced in many years. He stressed there won’t be any compromise in India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He said Bimstec was moving forward but Saarc operations are being hit by ‘consensus limitations’. Without naming Pakistan, he also spoke of how one of India’s neighbours has been consistently involved in blocking Saarc in all of its constructive activities.
