Chinese telecom giant Huawei has said “survival” is its top priority after announcing sales were hit hard by a boycott from western nations. Chairman Eric Xu estimated sales revenues to reach ¥850bn (US $121bn), up roughly 18 per cent from the previous year, but much lower than initially expected. He added that Huawei would need to “go all out” to build up its mobile services ecosystem to keep selling smartphones in overseas markets. The United States has effectively imposed a trade ban on Huawei for allegedly posing a national security threat.
