A trend that's taken flight amid the Covid-19 pandemic is fantasy flying, which involves hopping on a flight, literally going nowhere.
Recently, Australian airline Qantas announced a 7 hour scenic flight to nowhere and it was booked within minutes. It would take passengers around, giving an aerial view of Uluru and other Australian landmarks. Another airline, EVA, departed and returned to Taiwan's Taipei in three hours.
The new trend, that apparently gives the thrill of flying, has drawn ire from climate activists who claim it 'puts unnecessary pressure on the environment.'
Members of campaign groups like Flight Free Australia and Flight Free UK called the trend insane and pointed to the increase in emissions it may cause.
