Facebook knew of Russian data theft in 2014: UK lawmaker

Citing an email from a Facebook engineer, Damian Collins, who heads a committee of British lawmakers investigating the impact of fake news, says the social network knew that Russian-linked entities were using a feature that let advertisers harvest large amounts of data as early as October 2014. Previously, Facebook said it was unaware of Russian activity until after the 2016 election.
