Facebook: COO asked staff to investigate George Soros

Facebook has revealed that COO Sheryl Sandberg asked staff to investigate whether George Soros had any financial benefit from attacking the social media platform, but clarified that there was no attempt to malign the billionaire. The outgoing head of communications, Elliot Schrage, said that the company had hired a consulting firm to keep track of competitors and detractors, including Soros, who has called the networking site a 'menace to society'. Sandberg maintains that she did not direct research on Soros.
