The Election Commission on Friday ordered fresh voting in one polling station of Assam's Ratabari seat following a controversy over officials transporting an electronic voting machine in a BJP candidate's car on Thursday.
The EC said that its team hitched ride in a private vehicle after their own vehicle broke down in rain. The commission further added that they realised that it was a BJP candidate's car only after a crowd blocked it.
The election commission has suspended the four officials involved in the controversy. The opposition has hit out at the poll panel and the BJP over the incident.
