In a major blow to France, forward Ousmane Dembele has been ruled out of the European Championship because of a knee injury sustained during the team’s 1-1 draw with Hungary on Saturday.

Dembele had come on to the field in the 2nd half of that game as a substitute and made an immediate impact but later limped off the ground.

The French Football Federation in a statement confirmed that Dembele had an X-ray at the Budapest hospital on Sunday night and the recovery time was incompatible with him staying in the squad.
