In an embarrassing turn of events, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was left standing when she walked inside a room along with another EU official to hold a meeting with Turkish president Erdogan. European Council President Charles Michel and Turkish President Erdogan took the only two seats available in the room. Footage from their meeting on Tuesday showed the first female head of the EU executive, the only woman in the talks, gesturing in disbelief and uttering a surprised sigh as the two presidents took the the two centre-stage seats prepared. She was later accommodated on a sofa in the room.
