New Delhi, Oct 3 (PTI): Streaming platform ZEE5 has slated the premiere of its latest original offering, “Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas,” starring Arshad Warsi and Jitendra Kumar, for October 17.

This intense chase thriller is a collaborative production between Jio Studios, Baweja Studios, and Dog ‘n’ Bone Pictures, set against the backdrop of Robertsganj, Uttar Pradesh, and directed by Akshay Shere.

The film features Arshad Warsi in the role of Inspector Vishwas Bhagwat, a complex and troubled cop on the trail of a series of heinous murders. Jitendra Kumar, known for his work in “Panchayat,” steps into an unexpectedly nuanced role as Sameer, an apparently simple young man with hidden depths and complexities.

The trailer, now available for viewers, promises a narrative brimming with rapid-paced sequences, evocative imagery, and an electrifying clash between the two protagonists. It sets the stage for a captivating storyline of morality, redemption, and the eternal clash of good versus evil.

Director Akshay Shere emphasizes that the film transcends conventional crime thriller themes. “’Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas’ is much more than a usual crime drama. It delves into morality, redemption, and the pivotal choices that shape us. I’m eager for the audience to embark on this emotional and thrilling journey with Vishwas Bhagwat and Sameer when the film premieres on ZEE5 this October,” he expressed.

Arshad Warsi, reflecting on his role, revealed that playing Bhagwat has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of his career. “Bhagwat is not your typical hero. He is flawed, angry, and haunted by his past, yet committed to justice. The trailer offers just a hint of this world, but the full film will immerse you in his struggles and resilience. For me, what sets ‘Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas’ apart is that it’s not merely about solving a crime; it’s about facing one’s internal conflicts. I am excited for audiences to take part in this journey, and I genuinely believe it will keep them engaged until the closing moments,” Warsi stated.

Jitendra Kumar remarked on his transformative character portrayal. “Bringing Sameer to life allowed me to step away from the characters audiences have usually seen me as. Sameer is outwardly ordinary and vulnerable, possibly even romantic, yet he carries complex, unsettling facets beneath. Embodying this character was both challenging and liberating as an actor,” he shared.
