Netflix India has released the eagerly awaited trailer for 'Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar'. The thrilling trailer offers a glimpse into the charismatic world weaved by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, where 'mujrewalis' turn 'mulkwali' to put up a strong battle against British rule in India. Starring Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Fardeen Khan, and Aditi Rao Hydari in pivotal roles, the period drama promises to be an ‘epic saga of love, power, betrayal, struggle, and, ultimately, freedom’.
The gripping trailer transports viewers to Heeramandi, where Mallikajaan (Manisha Koirala) rules over an elite house of courtesans. Fearing no one, she is an invincible force of nature, until the return of her late nemesis’ daughter, Fareedan (Sonakshi Sinha), who turns the table upside down. As the tension builds up inside the house, the outside world, too, turns chaotic, with revolutionaries taking it to the streets to free India from British rule. The 'Mujrawalis' turn 'Mulkwalis' as Bibbojaan (Aditi Rao Hydari), one of Mallikajaan’s daughters, joins the country's fight for freedom. Meanwhile, Mallikajaan’s youngest, Alamzeb (Sharmin Segal), falls head over heels for Nawab (nobleman), Tajdar (Taha Shah Badussha). In the hope of a new life, she dreams of breaking free from Heeramandi.
Against this tumultuous backdrop, Mallikajaan locks horns with Faredaan, to win the ultimate battle of power.
Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali said, “This is a story of love, power, freedom, and extraordinary women, their desires, and struggles. It marks a new milestone in my journey. In Netflix, we found the ideal partner —- one who not only shares our love for storytelling but also possesses the unparalleled capability to bring our series to the most diverse and global audience imaginable."
