Tamil actor Daniel Balaji breathed his last on Friday (March 29) night at a private hospital in Chennai. He succumbed to a heart attack. He was 48. Reportedly, the actor was rushed to a hospital in Chennai's Kottivakam after complaining of chest pain. His body has been taken to his residence in Purasaiwalkam for final rites. Following the grim news, many Tamil actors, directors, and producers are expected to pay their last respects to him later today, March 30.
Director Mohan Raja took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to pay tribute to Balaji and wrote that he was his inspiration to join the film institute. “Such a Sad news. He Was an inspiration for me to join the film institute. A very good friend. Miss working with him. May his soul rest in peace," he said.
Film analyst Sreedhar Pillai took to his X handle to share the news of Balaji’s demise. “#DanielBalaji (48) a fine actor passed away late at night due to a cardiac arrest. Who can forget his voice and performance as the antagonist in Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu, Polladhavan? #RIPDanielBalaji.”
Balaji began his career as a unit production manager in Kamal Haasan's unfinished dream project, 'Marudhunayagam'. He then forayed into television with Radikaa Sarathkumar's 'Chithhi'. In the television serial, he portrayed the role of Daniel, which earned him the title of, Daniel Balaji.
He made his Tamil film debut with "April Madhathil" in 2022. He also appeared in a cameo in 'Polladhavan' by Vetri Maaran. Some of his other notable works include Ajith's 'Yennai Arindhaal', Simbu's 'Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada', Thalapathy Vijay's 'Bairavaa', Dhanush's 'Vada Chennai', and Vijay's 'Bigil'. He was last seen in 'Ariyavan'.
