Actor-director Rishab Shetty is currently basking in the success of his recently released Kannada film, 'Kantara', which was later dubbed into multiple languages. In a recent conversation with ETimes, the filmmaker turned down the idea of 'Kantara's Hindi remake as he felt that it is already dubbed in the language. But when asked if it had been made in Hindi, who would be suitable to play the character that he played? Rishab replied that to play such characters one has to believe in the roots and culture. He said there are many big actors in the Hindi film industry whom he admires. But he is not interested in remakes.

The actor also talked about South films working well and said, 'This is seasonal. Every industry goes through ups and downs. Maybe audiences don’t bifurcate films as Bollywood, Sandalwood, etc anymore. People look at it as Indian cinema. Kantara is Kannada, regional, Indian cinema. The same goes for Hindi cinema. People are crossing the language barrier and watching content from all parts of India. Every film industry has made an immense contribution to Indian cinema.'

When asked about his reaction to #KantaraForOscars trend on social media, he said, 'I don’t react to that. I just saw the 25000 tweets about that. It makes me happy but I don’t comment on that. Because I didn’t work for this success. I worked for work. That’s all.'

Kantara’ is the third Kannada film ever to cross the ₹250-crore mark in global box office gross earnings. It was released in theatres on September 30, and it has been praised by critics, audience and several celebrities, including Rajinikanth, Prabhas, Kangana Ranaut, Ram Gopal Varma, and Vivek Agnihotri.
