Los Angeles, Aug 27 (AP) Lil Nas X has described his recent arrest and time in jail as "terrifying" in his first public comments since being charged with assaulting police officers in Los Angeles.

The 26-year-old artist, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, entered a not guilty plea to four felony charges on Monday before being released on bail after spending the weekend incarcerated.

In a video posted to Instagram on Tuesday night, Lil Nas X appeared both amused and bewildered as he reflected on his ordeal, saying, "these last four days have been terrifying." He reassured fans with a laugh, stating, "Your girl is going to be OK. She's going to be alright." However, he did not elaborate on the specifics of the incident, and his representatives have so far not commented.

Authorities reported that Lil Nas X was found walking naked along a major street in the San Fernando Valley and allegedly charged at police officers who were responding to emergency calls. The criminal complaint outlines that three officers sustained injuries during the incident, leading to three felony counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer.

He made an appearance in court to plead not guilty and was subsequently released on a USD 75,000 bail, with the requirement to regularly attend drug treatment sessions.

His attorney assured the court on Monday that the charges were an “absolute aberration” in what is otherwise a “remarkable” life.

The performer is scheduled to return to court on September 15 for his next pre-trial hearing.

Lil Nas X, originally from Atlanta, rose to fame with his 2018 hit "Old Town Road," a fusion of country and hip-hop that set a record by topping the Billboard Hot 100 for 19 weeks and earning him two Grammy Awards.

Celebrated for his innovative sounds and genre-defying style, Lil Nas X's debut studio album, 2021's "Montero," reached No. 2 on the Billboard album chart and was nominated for a Grammy for Album of the Year. Some of his other notable hits include “Industry Baby” and “Montero (Call Me by Your Name).” (AP) RB RB
