'Deadpool and Wolverine' hits cinemas this summer, with fans wondering about how the film would incorporate the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well, much to the fans' delight, director Shawn Levy has assured you don't need any homework to enjoy the film. While acknowledging the passionate fanbase, Levy emphasised that the film prioritises pure entertainment and a pre-requisite knowledge of the subject is not required.
“I was a good student in school. I’ll do my homework as an adult. But I am definitely not looking to do homework when I go to the movies,” Levy told the Associated Press. "I very much made this film with certainly a healthy respect and gratitude towards the rabid fan base that has peak fluency in the mythology and lore of these characters and this world. But I didn’t want to presume that. This movie is built for entertainment, with no obligation to come prepared with prior research.”
While Hugh Jackman's Wolverine might look familiar, it's not the same character he portrayed in the first two instalments. The film marks Ryan Reynold's third film as Deadool but it essentially can't be called 'Deadpool 3', Levy told Screen Rant at Cinemacon. He added that it's a fresh story that brings together these iconic characters in a completely new way.
