King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla hosted their first tea party as monarchs at Buckingham Palace. They were joined by the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh as they welcomed thousands of guests including singer Lionel Richie and his girlfriend, Lisa Parigi.
The American singer shared a friendly chat with the royal couple. Richie has been asked by the King to perform at Sunday night’s Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle. Besides him, Katy Perry, Take That, and Andrea Bocelli will also perform at the event.
King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla’s coronation will be held at Westminster Abbey on May 6.
The royal family’s summer garden parties are a beloved tradition dating back to Queen Victoria. They were cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. The parties resumed last year but Queen Elizabeth II was represented by other members of the royal family before her death in September.
Ahead of the garden party, King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla were photographed arriving at Westminster Abby for coronation rehearsals, accompanied by Prince William, his wife Kate, and children George and Charlotte.
