Twenty years prior to embarking on his latest project, "The Odyssey," Nolan was offered the opportunity to direct the 2004 epic film "Troy." His interest in exploring the ancient world dates back to that period.
Nolan revealed to Empire magazine, “I was originally hired by Warner Bros to direct 'Troy'. Wolfgang Petersen had already developed it, and when the studio decided not to move forward with his superhero venture 'Batman Vs Superman', he wanted the project back.” The Oscar-winning director expressed that his fascination with Homer's Greek epic has lingered over the years.
