England announced their limited overs squad for series vs Australia and Test skipper Joe Root has been left out of the T20 squad. He though has maintained his spot in the ODI set-up. Star all-rounder Ben Stokes who missed the last two Tests against Pakistan to visit his father who was diagnosed with brain cancer, continues to be unavailable. Jason Roy who was also nursing a side strain has been left out of the T20 squad but will return for the ODIs. Hard-hitting batsman Jos Buttler and fast bowlers Jofra Archer, Sam Curran and Mark Wood have been named in both squads. The 3 match T20 series starts from Friday in Southampton, while Manchester will host the 3 ODIs from September 11. Both venues have hotels on-site.
