Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on April 20 shared a purported picture showing JD(S) chief HD Deve Gowda holding a newspaper while sitting next to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a rally.

The newspaper showed a Congress advertisement with an empty mug that symbolised that BJP-led central government gave Kannadigas noting but an empty mug or chombu.

Reacting to this, BJP shared a edited image which showed Siddaramaiah with an empty mug in 2013 and without one in 2023.

Congress leader Randeep Surjewala was also seen holding an empty mug while interacting with reporters.

"Kannadigas demand their right. We give ₹100 to the central government as taxes and Kannadigas get ₹13 back only. When they demand share of their own taxes, Modi ji gives them chombu," Surjewala said.
