Jodhpur also known as the Blue City will go to polls on April 26. Traditionally, this seat was held by Congress but things changed post-2014 as BJP's Gajendra Singh Shekhawat breached Congress' winning streak in the Blue City. It is among the 25 parliamentary seats in Rajasthan, encompassing eight assembly segments in the state.
BJP heavyweight Shekhawat emerged victorious in both the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls. This time, Shekhawat is up against Congress' new contender Karan Singh Uchiyarda.
In 2019 polls, Shekhawat defended the Jodhpur seat against Vaibhav Gehlot, the son of Ashok Gehlot.
On the other hand, Karan Singh Uchiyarda, a Congress candidate from Jodhpur is contesting polls for the first time. A few days ago, he was in the news as a copy of an arrest warrant against him went viral online.
