In Etawah, it appears that a family drama is taking place amid the ongoing elections. BJP candidate from Etawah and sitting MP, Ram Shankar Katheria recently filed nomination papers for the Etawah seat. However, a few days later, his wife Mridula Katheria also filed nomination papers as an independent candidate from the same seat on April 24.
While filing the nomination papers, Mridula said, "Nomination papers are filed not to be withdrawn. I will contest the election… This is my birthright."
This is not the first time when Mridula has filed nomination papers. Earlier, in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Mridula filed her nomination papers from Etawah but later withdrew it. Her husband, Ram Shankar went on to win the seat for the BJP by defeating SP's Kamlesh Kumar by over 64,000 votes.
Etawah constituency will go for polls in the fourth phase on May 13.
