The Election Commission on Sunday rejected TMC's request for recount of votes in Nandigram. Mamata Banerjee-led TMC had written to the poll body, demanding a recounting of votes in the hotly contested Nandigram where the Bengal Chief Minister contested against her former aid and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari.

The TMC said the EC announced the Nandigram result without counting the last round.

Earlier, news agencies reported that Mamata won the Nandigram constituency by 1200 votes.

Later in the evening during her victory address, Mamata said she accepts the verdict in Nandigram and said the poll panel was doing some cheating.

It was found later that a section of media had reported that Adhikari had been declared the winner.
