In a blow to the Bharatiya Janata Party, senior leader Eknath Khadse announced his resignation from the party on Wednesday. Maharashtra BJP president, Chandrakant Patil, acknowledged the receipt of the resignation and said it has been accepted. According to news agency PTI, Khadse was unhappy since he was made to resign as a minister from the Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP government in 2016 on allegations of corruption. He mentioned he is ‘upset’ with former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis but added he had ‘no complaints with Central leadership’. Khadse has expressed his willingness to work under the leadership of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar and will join the party on Friday, informed the state president Jayant Patil.
