An “immediate” shutdown for a “few weeks” could put an end to the cycle of Covid transmission in India, American expert Dr Anthony S Fauci has said. One of the most trusted global voices on Covid, Dr Fauci, told The Indian Express that a lockdown will provide a window to take critical “immediate, intermediate, and long range” steps out of this “very difficult and desperate” situation. "Address the absolute immediate problem, get the intermediate things going, and then take a look at the longer range in regards to vaccines," Dr Fauci, chief medical advisor to the Biden Administration, said.
