Delhi and Maharashtra confirmed the cases of bird flu on Monday taking the number of affected states to nine. Seven other states - Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat - had earlier confirmed bird flu. The parliamentary panel on agriculture has summoned senior officials of the ministry of animal husbandry to review the availability of animal vaccines in the country. Delhi has banned import of birds and has shut the biggest poultry market at Ghazipur. The Maharashtra government has ordered culling of poultry birds in the Murumba village, where the outbreak has been confirmed.
