Delhi Capitals continued their dominance in this edition of the IPL as they avoided a scare against the Kolkata Knight Riders to register their 3rd win in 4 games. KKR's decision to bowl first backfired as Delhi made full use of the short boundaries in Sharjah. Prithvi Shaw gave a perfect start with a gritty 66 and then Shreyas Iyer cut loose. The skipper smashed an unbeaten 38-ball-88 and powered Delhi to a mammoth 228/4. Kolkata lost Sunil Narine early but Shubman Gill and Nitinsh Rana steadied the innings. Gill couldn't cash in but Rana raced to 50 before being dismissed for 58. KKR's decision to send Andre Russell up the order failed as he could only manage 13. With 91 runs were required off the final 5 overs and 4 wickets in hand, it looked like an easy win for Delhi. But Eoin Morgan and Rahul Tripathi went berserk and brought the equation down to 31 needed off the last 2 overs. Delhi though kept their nerve and edged past KKR by 18 runs.
